Recovery means returning to a normal state of health, mind, or strength.
It is important to remember that the pain that is felt regarding a loss does not have to be “the new normal” for life. We can recover from loss and have a fulfilling and joyful life. Joy does come in the morning/mourning!
In this video, Comedian, Wendy Lee, shares her personal testimony of overcoming depression. Wendy Lee has been in the comedy industry for over 10 years. Wendy believes that by people we are hurt, people also heal us. Wendy desires to spark thoughts that lead to action that provokes lasting change.
When you’re depressed, you can’t just will yourself to “snap out of it.”
Here are some helpful tips:
- Reach out and get support (familial, professional, group support)
- Do things that you enjoy/have enjoyed
- Get moving-try exercising for 30 minutes
- Eat healthy
- Get some sunlight
- Challenge negative thinking (put thoughts on stand-what’s true/not
